is there value in any of this?

Goths of the 80-90s would tell you that there is joy in all places, especially the dark and macabre. Their whole schtick was to make beauty out of death, and to embrace and spiritualise and find peace among things that unsettle and disturb. They were right, you know. Life is nothing more than what you make of it, and if you sit around with your hands in your lap, waiting for something nice to come along and undress itself in front of you, then you will never ever find anything worth finding.

Go outside!!

Leaning away from lots of ways of consuming media as of late, as if I ever had much interest in it to start with. Deletion of socials, pruning of all of my books and dvds and cds until they fit into a single shelf set, complete and total rejection of corportate run digital media (e.g. netflix, steam, e-books, youtube to an extent) aside from music, and the acceptance of silence. It's a choice partially made from the many awful feelings that come up upon hearing the acronym "DRM", but the vast majoirty of it is connection to the world, and some schizophrenic sounding rant about dopamine and the state of the youth. The only digital media I engage with is super tailored to my niche interests within niche interests, and even that's been limited to independent artists. I have filled my home and mind with anachronisms, carefully choosing how I will interact with the world moving forwards, and god knows I feel better for it.
