Pretzel bark...
Also called Christmas crack, for very good reason. Pretzel topped with caramel topped with chocolate. YUM. You can make this with any combination of flavours and it will be incredible, but this is my favourite.
1 tray...
Pretzel bark
Ingredients
- Mini salted pretzels to cover a tray
- 1 cup of butter
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- About 200g of dark chocolate melts, but it depends on the tray size.
- Chocolate chips
- Optionally, vanilla bean paste to taste.
Method
- Preheat oven to 190C.
- Line a tray with baking paper. Do not skip this!!
- Spread the pretzels over the tray, filling as many gaps as possible. You want densely packed pretzels.
- In a saucepan, mix butter and sugar over medium heat. Once it starts to bubble, leave it alone for abput 3 minutes.
- Pour this caramel over the pretzel tray in a zig zag sort of pattern, covering them completely.
- Put the tray in the oven for 5 minutes, to let the caramel fill all the gaps properly.
- Immediately after taking it out, put the chocolate oer the top. Let them melt a little, then spread with a spatula, making sure there are no gaps. Be careful not to accidentally touch the hot caramel.
- Put this straight into the fridge until it is cold. Break into shards and enjoy.
Notes...
Butter can swap for margarine but I think that tastes bad so I never do that unless I'm making it for vegans LOL.
